This is our next to last weekend in Chernivtsi. It has rained a lot.
Friday morning I had my healthy breakfast and then went to workout. I did much better this time.
I always like looking at the dates on the buildings. This one is 1910.
And I always hate seeeing things like this, although it is a very common occurrence.
When it rains you can see how uneven the streets and sidewalks are. Walking over ice covered sidewalks like this was not fun.
I did some internet work and sent some emails in the afternoon, and then we went to Sorbonne for dinner. Lonely Planet had recommended this restaurant as had many people around town. It wasn’t what we hoped. It is more of a club than a restaurant, there was no one in there, and they didn’t have English menus, only Ukrainian, so we ended up just having a drink (or half of one…bad Moldovan vino chervone/red wine) and leaving.
We went to the German restaurant we have wanted to try on Olga. Still no English menus, but I ordered a chicken/kirka schnitzel and vegetables and got something somewhat similar to chicken schnitzel.
I also started packing today. I opened the suitcase and threw it on the floor yesterday, and actually began to fill it on Friday. It is going faster than I thought, but I am probably deceiving myself.
Saturday I woke up and went to workout again. After being sick, I am back up to 4 miles. It was beautiful and sunny on my walk up to Ace, but then I noticed it becoming dark, and then I heard thunder, and now we have another rainy day. It was still drizzling on my walk back, but I decided to take the long walk back down Vul Virmenska. I used to do that all the time back in February before I learned the short cut, so I did it for old times sack.
Images like this will always remind me of Ukraine:
Later in the day I did some internetting and began to work on my talk for the Embassy’s conference in Crimea. It is cold in the living room and I am wrapped up in a Snuggie (thank you Ansley!).
I also did some more packing.
I’m hoping the rain will go away tomorrow because there is an outdoor festival I want to attend. Ready for some SC sunshine…
