It was 4 degrees outside when I left my apt today. My Mom suggested a few days ago that I wear her fur over my down coat. How do Mom’s always know these things? So that is what I have done for the past 2 days. While I look 3 times as large as I am and do not even resemble a human being in this massive coat. I actually do not get very cold now.
I went to meet with Mykola this afternoon to finalize my syllabi. Hre is a shot of the stairwell leading to my classroom with a pretty stained glass window.
Then I spent a few hours walking around. Wearing 2 coats is very heavy. I found a department store, where I bought a pair of crazy purple and black tights. I bought an oven mitt ( I am tired of burning my hand on the tea kettle and feeling like I am going to burn my hand on these furnaces). I totally wandered. I went into a deli and found a woman in there who spoke to me in English! She told me that she lived in Houston for 6 years! I was able to ask her what was inside all the fried doughy things (any combination of potato, sausage, chicken, mushrooms, and cheese…these ingredients make up a substantial portion of the Ukrainian diet as far as I can tell). She was so helpful. I bought a chicken thing for myself.
Then it started to get dark and I was hungry, having lugged around my coat and some poor animal’s 10 lbs of fur on my back all day. I went to Reflection. Had chicken fajitas tonight and sparkling water.
Andriy called tonight and we made plans to go to the gym tomorrow morning. when he initially came to introduce himself,he said he had been at the gym. My ears immediately perked! I asked him about it and he said he would take me. Really looking forward to it!
